The Story So FarWednesday, December 15, 2010
at 11:24 PM;
For a little background information. Calvary Assembly of God is messed up. So messed up, in fact, that it's a miracle it hasn't died yet. Daphne is the current youth pastor, after her husband Chad left to go back to the US to take care of his mother, or something like that, it doesn't matter. Anyway, after he left, everything which had already been going downhill began to accelerate. After spending more than 4 years in the church as an emotional train wreck, I decided to leave early this year. Life has never been better.
Posted 22/11/2010 @ 2:12am as Daphne June's status: Hi my dearest concerned friends who are NOT from Calvary - F.T.W means "For the Win". Not anything else =D. "FTW" is our Youth Camp 2010 Theme and to us it means to run the race, to press on, not to give up but to go all the way to fulfill what God has in store for our destiny. Don't worry! Relax =D I haven't lost my mind or convictions! lol!
Comment 26/11/2010 @ 10:13pm from Choon Hiang Tan on Daphne June's aforementioned status: isn't it funny how people tag their personal agenda to pop culture in an effort to associate their vested interests with cool, and not only end up uncool, but show their extreme laziness to actually understand that piece of culture before raping its significance?
learn2google and READ more than 2 sentences, fool.
PM sent 29/11/2010 @ 1:29am from Daphne June to Choon Hiang Tan: Hi Choon Hiang,
Notice you stopped by to read stuff on my FB and also took time to write your comments as well. It's sad to see that you got offended by Calvary's youth camp theme. It's ok. It's an internal theme which like all our camps, mean something to each one who attends. Perhaps you beg to defer. that's fine.
However, my purpose in writing this message to you is to let you know that while my door is open to you (as I wrote in my previous message to you), I do not appreciate your rudeness, especially in calling me a fool. Refer to your post "learn2google and READ more than 2 sentences, fool."
That gesture was extremely insensitive,offensive, hurting and extremely uncalled for. Do not do that in future.
You may call me anytime if you wish to talk further- 9188 1074.
God bless you.

Message written 15/12/2010 @ 11:03pm by Choon Hiang Tan on Daphne June's Facebook Wall: Hello Daphne,
At first I couldn't be bothered to reply your message, but after a while I felt that just to let your hypocrisy slide by is too much perhaps.
You have been utterly uncivil to me (fake politeness is not equal to civility), and tried to hide away rather than answer me in the open. I don't know for sure, but I have a pretty strong feeling that you value your pride too much to bring this conversation into public view. I, on the other hand, have no such qualms, and hence I am posting this on your Wall. Have fun trying to remove it; I am posting it on my status as well.
"It's an internal theme which like all our camps, mean something to each one who attends."
-nice try. I was tempted to invoke Godwin's Law right there and then, but nah. In case you don't know what Godwin's Law is, please refer to my previous post on this matter. Too lazy to check? I shall type it here for your benefit: ""learn2google and READ more than 2 sentences, fool."
If every single commonly used acronym in the English language had a different meaning for every English speaker, the use of English as a communication tool becomes moot.
"That gesture was extremely insensitive, offensive, hurting and extremely uncalled for" [correction of punctuation and spacing mine], huh?
I am reminded of how you called me repeatedly, right before my History mid-year exam, and pressured me to rush from school in Bishan to church at Upper East Coast Road to meet you, Pastor Choy and the the Calvary youth president (who was holding the post at the time, I cannot recall, but it doesn't matter). My protest that I was still in the middle of my exam period went unheard, and I am still not sure what mindless stupidity came over me and allowed me to go all the way to Calvary to hear your bullshit.
If my records are correct, I rushed down from school right after my exam, and was berated, no, reprimanded for almost 3 and a half hours. Why? Because of a simple blog post I made, asking simple questions because I was confused at the way you were handling the situation in the Calvary youth group.
At the time, was my tone confrontational? Was it angry? Was it rude? No. Was yours? Certainly. In my decidedly non-stable mental state after a major exam, the three of you criticized my thinking, showed contempt for the fact that I have been in church for a shorter time than any of you, and worst of all, displayed a total lack of respect for me as a fellow Christian.
You were (and I daresay, still are) completely apathetic to the possibility that I might be pointing out something very wrong within Calvary's leadership. After all, "how would I know better", indeed?
I do not wish to talk further, at least not in a bidirectional way. You have shown utter disdain for all I have said; I shall do the same to show you what it feels like.
Learn some manners, woman. And stop trying to point out others' flaws so much; it only accentuates your own. We are not blind. We see that there is something really wrong with Calvary, something really wrong with your family, and definitely something really wrong with the way you are dealing with all this.
Grow a damn spine and face the truth, please.
Oh, and some food for thought: "Is a failure not a failure simply because she refuses to admit that it is so?
the rest is silence;
